715 cast in-situ piles with PTC Vibrodriver for the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan

Olympic Stadium
Zetasagt, one of major construction companies in Azerbaijan, used PTC 30H1A for the foundation works needed to build the new Olympic Stadium with a capacity of 68000 spectators, in the city of Baku. The Olympic Stadium was built in a vast territory adjacent to a giant lake covered with dead waters. In 2015 this place is to be transformed into a large leisure hub, when Baku will become first ever host of the Paneuropean Games, (continental equivalent of the Olympics). The new Olympic Stadium consist of an approximate closed area of 300.000 m2 on a total land of 32 hectares.

After hosting the competition, it is expected to become a business pole, which will be utilised everyday of the year and will offer facilities for shopping, working, sports and various activities.



PTC 30H1A Vibrodriver in Baku, Azerbaijan

For the foundations of the stadium, Zetasagt needed to install 715 cast in-situ piles. The casings used were 11 m long and had 1200 mm diameter.

These casings were driven by PTC 30H1A, then filled in with a steel reinforcement cage and concrete. Afterwards, the casings were extracted by the PTC Vibrodriver, which worked mounted on a 75 tons KOBELCO crawler crane.
