Excavation in pipeline construction by Toyo Pump

Toyo Pump
Petroleum Marine Services is an Egyptian company involved in marine works for the petroleum industry.

The project, in Alexandria, was to connect the gas treatment plant, with a 1,2m diameter pipe, to the harbour LNG vessels loading area. PMS had to excavate the trench for laying the gas pipeline along the Suez Canal.

The problem with the excavating machine they started to work with was that the job took too much time. The presence of water and the large quantities of sand to be transported complicated the job even more.

The alternative solution they selected is to pump the sand with a Toyo DP150. The performance of the pump, 720m³/h capacity at 22m head at 30m depth, was not only meeting their sand winning requirements but was also solving their sand transport problem.

The DP150 helped PMS to finish the trench work job in due time and also to finish the dredging works at the vessels terminal in the harbour.
